
In January of 2002, most of these countries, with the exceptions of England and Switzerland, adopted the Euro as their monetary unit. While we were traveling, the Euro was available and prices were given in terms of the Euro, which was very close in value to the American dollar, but it was not yet widely used. Information given about the currency values was for the time of our trip.

We left from Logan Airport in Boston at 7:00 P.M. It was about a 5 1/2 hour flight. A particularly beautiful sunrise or sunset was visible as we passed over Iceland at 1:30 A.M.
We arrived at London's Heathrow Airport at around 5:45 A.M. but could not land until 6:00 because London has a strict curfew. We had to pass through customs to be sure that our passports were in order. Finally, we were on our way to our hotel.
In May of 2013, we have just returned from taking a 12 day Mediterranean Cruise. I will soon be adding a few more countries to the site as well as new cities and villages that we have visited in some of the countries we visited previously.
